The organisation having custody of the records is bound to make the corrections unless it has an overriding reason for not making the corrections.
Right to Request Correction
The right to correction of personal information gives to citizens the right to request that organisation’s keeping their personal information make corrections where they discover that there is any error in the information kept by the entity. In the previous example of a former student of a University requesting for access to academic records, where the records produced shows any error, the student has a right under the NDPA 2023 to request correction of the records.
